This policy describes how the Patchbay: Custom MIDI Designer mobile application (“Patchbay,” “the app”) handles information when you use it on your iPhone or iPad. Patchbay is designed to work without an account and to keep your saved surfaces and songs on your iPhone or iPad unless you choose to export your library yourself.
Patchbay is provided by Los Palmos LLC, a Pennsylvania limited liability company (“Los Palmos,” “we,” “us”). For questions about this policy, contact us at admin@lospalmos.org.
Patchbay does not collect any data. The app does not connect to the internet; the only network connections it makes are local-network MIDI connections to destinations you choose, through an optional network MIDI session that is off by default. It requires no account and contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking. Your saved surfaces and songs are stored only on your iPhone or iPad. We do not sell your personal information.
Motion data. If you use motion controls, the app reads motion data from your device’s sensors live, in memory, only to generate MIDI values in real time. Motion data is never saved, is not sent to us, and is not shared with Apple Health.
MIDI output and local network access. The app sends MIDI only to destinations you choose: connected hardware over USB (Core MIDI), an optional virtual MIDI source, or an optional local-network MIDI session. When you turn on the optional virtual MIDI source (off by default), other MIDI apps on your device can receive Patchbay’s MIDI. The network MIDI session is off by default and works only on your local network; your device asks you to allow the app to access your local network only if you turn on the network MIDI session. These MIDI connections go only to the destinations you direct; they are not sent to us.
Surfaces and songs (stored locally). If you save surfaces and songs, they are stored only on your iPhone or iPad. They are not sent to us by the app, because Patchbay does not require a login, does not connect to the internet, and does not use our own backend. You can delete saved surfaces and songs at any time within the app (the app always keeps at least one surface).
If you delete the app or erase your device, locally stored data may be removed unless you have a device backup that includes app data.
Your library leaves the app only when you choose to export it. Library export and import use the system file picker: you choose where an exported library file is saved and which file to import. What happens to an exported file is then governed by the location or service you choose and its own policies, which are outside our control. We do not receive that content unless you send it to us explicitly (for example, by emailing support).
Patchbay is purchased through the App Store and also offers optional one-time in-app purchases. There are no subscriptions. Apple processes the payment for the app and for any in-app purchase. We do not receive your payment details. Apple provides us with sales reports that do not identify you personally.
Patchbay does not include any third-party libraries, analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising SDKs, and does not engage in tracking. If that changes in a future update, we will update this policy and, where required, the App Store privacy details.
Your use of Patchbay is also subject to Apple’s terms and policies for the App Store, iOS, and iPadOS. Apple may process certain technical or usage information in accordance with its own policies, which are outside our control.
We do not receive or retain any of your data. Saved surfaces and songs stay on your iPhone or iPad until you delete them or delete the app. Library files you export stay wherever you saved them until you delete them. Copies may remain in your device backups (such as iCloud Backup) until those backups are deleted. Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, or delete on request, but you can contact us with any privacy question.
Patchbay is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we should address a specific concern, contact us using the information below.
We design the app to store your saved surfaces and songs locally on your iPhone or iPad. No method of storage is perfectly secure; keeping your device software up to date and using device passcode or biometrics helps protect your data.
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
