Privacy Policy

Orbit · Last updated: October 23, 2026

This policy describes how the Orbit mobile application (“Orbit,” “the app”), a MIDI step sequencer, handles information when you use it on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch. Orbit is designed to work without an account and to keep your sessions and patterns on your own devices.

Who we are

Orbit is provided by Los Palmos LLC, a Pennsylvania limited liability company (“Los Palmos,” “we,” “us”). For questions about this policy, contact us at admin@lospalmos.org.

Summary

Orbit does not collect any data. The app does not connect to the internet; the only connections it makes are local MIDI connections over your local network or Bluetooth, to destinations you choose. It requires no account and contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking. It does not use iCloud, Apple Health or HealthKit, the microphone, or your location. Your sessions and patterns are stored on your own devices, and nothing is sent to us. We do not sell your personal information.

Information the app processes

Motion data. Motion controls are off unless you turn them on. If you use motion controls, the app reads motion data from your device’s sensors live, in memory, only for live modulation. Motion data is never saved, is not sent to us, and is not shared with Apple Health. Orbit does not access Apple Health or HealthKit.

MIDI connections and local network access. Orbit sends musical data only to MIDI destinations you pick. It can connect to MIDI instruments over Bluetooth, and it can use Core MIDI network sessions on your local network, which are discovered using Bonjour (_apple-midi._udp) and run only while you turn them on. Your device asks you to allow Bluetooth access and local network access before the app uses them, and you can change these permissions at any time in your device’s Settings.

Microphone and location. Orbit does not use the microphone and does not use your location.

Sessions and patterns (stored on your devices). Each device keeps its own copy of your data in that app’s on-device storage. The Apple Watch app stores its session and patterns. The iPhone and iPad app stores its session, patterns, and MIDI settings, and on iPhone it also saves the active arrangement. Your iPhone and Apple Watch sync session and playback state directly with each other using Apple’s WatchConnectivity, with no shared or cloud copy. This data is not sent to us by the app, because Orbit does not require a login, does not connect to the internet, and does not use our own backend. You can delete saved patterns at any time within the app’s Patterns library on iPhone or iPad. Patterns stored on Apple Watch are removed when you delete the Watch app.

If you delete the app or erase your device, locally stored data may be removed unless you have a device backup that includes app data.

Import and export

Orbit imports and exports JSON and MIDI (.mid) files only through the Files picker, and only when you choose to. Files you export are saved wherever you choose, and they are not sent to us.

Purchases

Orbit is purchased through the App Store. There are no subscriptions or in-app purchases. Apple processes the payment for the app. We do not receive your payment details. Apple provides us with sales reports that do not identify you personally.

Analytics, advertising, and tracking

Orbit does not include any third-party libraries, analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising SDKs, and does not engage in tracking. If that changes in a future update, we will update this policy and, where required, the App Store privacy details.

Apple and system services

Your use of Orbit is also subject to Apple’s terms and policies for the App Store, iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS. Apple may process certain technical or usage information in accordance with its own policies, which are outside our control.

Data retention and deletion

We do not receive or retain any of your data. Sessions, patterns, MIDI settings, and the saved arrangement stay on each device until you delete them or delete the app. Deleting the Apple Watch app removes the Watch’s copy, and deleting the iPhone or iPad app removes that device’s copy. Files you export stay wherever you saved them until you delete them. Copies may remain in your device backups (such as iCloud Backup) until those backups are deleted. Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, or delete on request, but you can contact us with any privacy question.

Children

Orbit is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we should address a specific concern, contact us using the information below.

Security

We design the app to store your sessions and patterns locally on your own devices, with no shared or cloud copy. No method of storage is perfectly secure; keeping your device software up to date and using device passcode or biometrics helps protect your data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
